Blackouts 2004?

Let's go back in time to 2001...the year when California realized they didn't have enough electricity for the demands of the state's users. So, we bought more energy from out-of-state providers (instead of fixing the power plants that we had, that Gray Davis had taken "off-line" beacuse we "didn't need them"), paying more for the power than we were bringing in from the energy-users...helping to put us over $30 billion in debt.

Well, it looks like California is running out of electricity again...and though they are saying that blackouts are unlikely, I have to wonder...where on earth are they going to get the power?

Thankfully, I live in Los Angeles County, which in 2001 gained exemption from the blackouts because of all that goes on down here. I lived in Nor Cal at the time of the last blackouts, and definitely experienced them, during 110+ degree summers. Yeah, L.A. complains WAY too much about things!

Anyway, just wanted to share this news, if any of you are interested. It will be interesting to see what happens.
