Christmas and Other Thoughts...
I'm back in Southern California again after a few days in Northern California. I moved the majority of my stuff down here with me (after spending two days sorting through stuff at my parents' house!), so I officially live in SoCal now. My parents can now have an office or something with my "old room". Kind of a weird feeling!
Christmas was wonderful, especially spending time with both sides of the family. It was peaceful (except for the annual "discussion" about how "done" the prime rib should be--still mooing or "cremated", LOL) and it was just what I needed.
My favorite gifts were: a really nice ukelele from my parents; a fishing pole and patriotic Power Bait from my cousin Kristin; (among other things) a Starbuck's gift card from my Mom's parents; a satellite radio receiver and an atomic clock/thermometer/barometer from my Dad's parents; and a "You Might Be a Redneck..." book from Brad and Cindy.
Christmas isn't about gifts, not by any means, but it always blesses me to give gifts to my family and friends...and receiving them isn't so bad, either. ;)
I cannot believe that Christmas has come and gone already! It is amazing how much has happened this year:
Inauguration (and ball)...Spring Break in D.C....Graduation from college...Tunisia...
Co-Directing/Co-Creating a camp...Accepting the position of "Interim Youth Minister"...Having a full-time "real job" for six whole days (and bored out of my mind for six days)...Attending SEVEN weddings (singing at two of them)...traveling to Northern Washington, Pennsylvania (twice), D.C. (twice), up and down California (too many times)...etc..
So much has happened! Although it has been one of the toughest years to date, it has also been one of the most incredible. God has SO richly blessed me in so many ways this year, and it has been absolutely amazing.
One day in Glendora, then it's off to San Jose with the youth group for three days. This had better not become a habit (staying in Glendora only one day and then leaving for a few days). I can't wait to just be HOME, back in my regular routine--though with the addition of a job.
Merry Christmas (a day late!)!
