It is 90 DEGREES!!!
Okay, so I can't even believe how hot it is. It is also so beautifully clear today! Amazing...last 2 weeks were dreary, wet and cold, and now it is 90 degrees (+) and sunny. God is so good to us! :)
So, this weekend Michael and I went to Pasadena, Newport Beach (where he SWAM in the Pacific Ocean...he's crazy!!), Huntington Beach, Riverside...we went into the Azusa Canyon the other night, and it was amazing. It is so awesome that you can drive up Highway 39 into the mountains, and it is as if you are hundreds of miles away from L.A. It was gorgeous, though freaky because it was dark with a full moon lighting the canyon, with no one around.
Michael is in love with palm trees, and I find that completely amusing. :) It is so wonderful to have him here, in part because he is giving me a new perspective and appreciation for Southern California. His observations, his joy, his excitement is contagious.
OH--forgot to mention this: my parents came down Friday. I was under the impression that they were coming down to get away for awhile and to meet Michael...while those things are true, the real reason they came down was to bring me the CAR!! :) They took the train back to Northern California so that I could have the car for the rest of the semester and the summer if I choose to live down here. I am still amazed! I have been so blessed to have parents like these! They "spoil" me so much...
Today we went to chapel and to class...chapel was sad, because we learned of a tragic accident that occured Saturday night, and an APU student was killed upon impact. She was a freshman here, and very involved in ASB. It is so tragic! We spent time in prayer for her family and for her roommates, etc. APU has such a tight community, which is amazing considering the size of our school--8200 students--it truly is a family here....and it is devastating to lose a member of our family.
We went back to the apartment, ate lunch and watched a U2 concert (which was awesome)...and now I am at work and Michael is doing research (and blogging). Tonight we are going to head down to Hollywood and to the Bonaventure...not sure what we are going to do there quite yet, probably see the Walk of Fame and Grauman's Chinese Theatre...the Hollywood sign of course...it will be a nightmare to get down there (rush hour), but traffic coming back will be light.
Tomorrow we are going to Disneyland all day--a guy at church is getting us in for free! :) Praise the Lord! My parents had given me money to take him there, but now I can give that money back (or use it in other ways :) )
This is so great! I really think that he should just move here! :) It would be so nice to have such a great friend here all the time...and since he loves Southern California so much, he would be happy too! :)
